Updated COVID-19 Policies

WVH is pleased to announce that we will once again be accepting new clients and patients! We are currently scheduling all annual exams and routine care appointments 2-4 weeks out, please keep this in mind when calling to schedule. Please visit our appointments page for current hours and contact information. All first-time clients and new patients are required to fill out our New Patient Registration Form prior to their appointment.

We are continuing to reserve several urgent care appointments that are available daily. These appointments fill up quickly, so it is best to call right at 8am when we open if your pet needs to be seen on an urgent basis. Please know that we are working diligently to see as many patients as possible while keeping everyone safe.

In order to keep our doctors and staff safe, WVH will be conducing curbside service until further notice. For curbside check-in, please call the clinic from your car upon arrival for your appointment. A technician will get pertinent information from you over the phone and then meet you in the parking lot to collect your pet. We kindly ask that our clients wear a mask when meeting our staff. The doctor will contact you once they have examined your pet to discuss a plan. We are following the CDC recommendations to develop a plan that will eventually allow clients back into the building. We are extremely grateful for the patience, understanding, and support that so many of you have shown us as we continue to provide the highest quality veterinary care during these unprecedented times.

Please continue to utilize our online pharmacy for medication, prevention, and prescription food refills. The post office has been experiencing shipping delays due to the busy holidays, so please order in advance. Please do not hesitate to call the clinic if you have any questions!

COVID-19 policies

WVH would like to thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented time. We have received many messages of appreciation and for that, we are so grateful! Unfortunately, there have also been instances where our staff has been treated in an unacceptable manner. We understand that current events have increased everyone’s daily stress; however, we need clients to be respectful and kind toward all of our staff.

We have had to change many things at our practice in order to keep you and our staff safe during this pandemic. Many of these operational changes require more time and effort and can be frustrating for all of us. We are all anxious to get things back to “normal” but COVID-19 is far from gone. We will be continuing curbside care indefinitely for your safety and ours. Despite all of these changes, our main focus is still providing your pets with the highest quality of care. We understand that it can be frustrating to wait on hold, for a call back, or for your appointment to start. But while you are experiencing this inconvenience we may be comforting a grieving owner, helping a stressed animal, disinfecting our large building, or dealing with an emergency we could not have predicted.

We also understand that it is frustrating and stressful when we do not have any available appointments. We reserve a certain number of urgent care appointments each day that are available on a first come first served basis. If these are full we may direct you to a local emergency room so that your pet can get the care it needs. This is not ideal and we do not want to send you elsewhere. But the staff of WVH will always prioritize your pet’s health and well-being. So do not berate us while we do everything we can to care for your pet. Please be kind and respectful to our staff.

Please note that our current hours of operation are Monday - Friday 8am - 5:30pm (closed from 12pm - 1pm) and select Saturdays from 8am-2pm. Please visit our website for curbside check-in procedures, which can be found here. Please continue to utilize our online pharmacy for medication, prevention, and prescription food refills. You can easily access the pharmacy from our website here. If your pet is overdue for vaccines or their annual exam, we are currently scheduling these routine appointments 3-5 weeks out. However, we will continue to refill your pet’s prescription food, prevention, and medication.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding during this time.

June update on COVID-19 clinic procedures

WVH is pleased to announce that we are resuming all routine wellness appointments and elective surgical procedures! While we continue to work our way through this pandemic our hours of operation will be:

Monday - Friday: 8am - 7pm (closed from 1pm - 2pm)

Saturday: 9am - 2pm

Procedures including surgeries and dental cleanings will be scheduled Tuesday through Friday. For the safety of our clients and staff, we will only have one doctor in the clinic at a time and WVH will also continue curbside care through the month of June. For curbside check-in please call the clinic from your car upon arrival for your appointment. A technician will get pertinent information from you over the phone and then meet you in the parking lot to collect your pet. We will be using our own slip leashes for dogs and all cats must be in a carrier. The doctor will contact you once they have examined your pet to discuss a plan. We are following the CDC recommendations to develop a plan that will eventually allow clients back into the building.

Please continue to utilize our online pharmacy for medication, prevention, and prescription food refills. You can easily access the pharmacy from our website here. We strongly recommend keeping your pets on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention all year round, even if they are currently overdue for their annual exam.

We understand that our limited staff and appointment options can be frustrating, but please know that we are working diligently to see as many patients as possible while keeping everyone safe. We are extremely grateful for the patience, understanding, and support that so many of you have shown us as we continue to provide the highest quality veterinary care during these unprecedented times

WVH COVID-19 Policies Update for May

While the world works through this pandemic we are still here to take care of your furry family members. We are happy to announce that we are extending our hospital hours in order to accommodate more patients starting Monday, May 4th. WVH will now be open from 8am to 7pm Monday through Friday with a 1 hour closure from 1pm-2pm for cleaning. We will continue to be open from 9am to 2pm on Saturdays.

We are also happy to announce that some restrictions have been lifted and we are now able to see any puppies that are due or overdue for their vaccinations. Our veterinarians are also able to do annual exams on patients that need their rabies vaccine updated. In addition, we will continue to see any sick pets or those with urgent concerns.

We will continue to conduct curbside care and our current operating procedures are outlined below. While our hours will be dramatically increased, we will still be operating with reduced staff and we appreciate your patience as we continue to provide the highest quality veterinary care.

  • Please call the clinic when you arrive at (734) 971-5800. We will check you in over the phone and come to your car to collect your pet. We will bring our own slip leash for dogs and all cats must be in a carrier. Please note that we will discuss special arrangements for euthanasia appointments.

  • We will be seeing sick pets, puppies due for their vaccine series, and any patient that needs a rabies vaccine updated. If you had an annual exam that was canceled and your pet is due for their rabies vaccine please call our clinic to reschedule that appointment. This also applies for any puppies that missed vaccines in their series due to our previous restrictions. We will also continue to see sick pets or those with urgent concerns.

  • Please utilize the online pharmacy for all medication, prevention, and prescription food refills. In an effort to limit human exposure we will be redirecting you to our online pharmacy for all medication and prescription food refills. Your pet's medication will be mailed directly to you after our office staff approves your request. You can access our online pharmacy directly from this page of our website.
