DR. Christina Butler, DVM

Medical Director

Hello, my name is Christina Butler and I joined Washtenaw Veterinary Hospital in Spring 2017. I earned my doctor of veterinary medicine degree at Michigan State University, and my undergraduate studies were also at MSU in clinical laboratory sciences. What I enjoy most about veterinary medicine is the opportunity to work together with owners to develop a unique health plan that considers and fulfills the needs of both them and their pets. My other professional interests include internal medicine, oncology, and feline medicine. When not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and being a proud pet parent to two animals — Luke, my black cat and Iggy, my guinea pig! I look forward to meeting and working with all the wonderful patients and clients at WVH!

My name is Barbara Butman and I am delighted to join the excellent team at WVH.  I attended Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Zoology and Animal Husbandry.  I earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from MSU in 1979 and have been practicing in the Ann Arbor area for over 30 years.  My many years of experience have given me a unique perspective on all aspects and life phases of my patients.  I believe that accurate diagnosis and successful treatment plans begin with good client communication.  My areas of special interest include soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, behavior, and internal medicine.  My own animal menagerie includes two Hanoverian horses, three wonderful "mutts", and four felines.  Outside of work I am an avid equestrian and train in dressage.

Dr. Christine Juergens, DVM

At five years old, I proudly announced that I was going to be a "dog doctor"—and after over 25 years of practicing veterinary medicine, I can confidently say I found my true calling. I genuinely love taking care of my patients and find joy in building strong relationships with pets and their owners. Whether it’s diagnosing a complex condition or offering reassurance, I approach every appointment with compassion, dedication, and a commitment to providing the best care possible. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine and continually challenge myself to stay abreast of the latest advancements in the field. My passion for veterinary medicine has never wavered, and I feel truly fortunate to play a role in helping my furry patients live long, healthy, and happy lives.
